About

Dr Son Huynh is a specialist in medical retinal disorders and has extensive experience in treating age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular diseases.

After graduating with Honours from the University of Sydney, he undertook further postgraduate training and completed a Masters of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology. Dr Huynh was a co-investigator in the Sydney Myopia Study and Sydney Childhood Eye Study, and has published over 30 research papers in prestigious international journals. He was awarded Doctor of Philosophy in medicine for his epidemiological work on myopia and the retina.

Dr Son Huynh completed his ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital and continued on with a sub-specialty Medical Retina fellowship at Westmead Hospital. He was the sub-investigator for a number of international clinical trials on treatments for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusions. He is now also a Staff Specialist at Westmead Hospital and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Dr Son Huynh is fluent in Vietnamese.
